Caged by a love we could have prevented <br />We imprisoned ourselves with each others limitations <br />Our love that had been put in motion <br />By both a place and time <br />When neither the two were right <br />The stars and planets were not aligned <br />But that didn't matter <br />At least to us <br />We became helpless in our desires <br />Desires that would tie us together forever <br />We were determined to make it work <br />Determined not to fail at love this time <br />After all <br />We both knew the many reasons <br />Love had not been kind <br />We had traveled this road before <br />We had hit all the bumps <br />Fell in all the holes <br />It was very simple <br />All we had to do was be nice to each other <br />Concede to one another's whims <br />Give in to the feelings of Love <br />Never question anything and <br />Ask nothing of it <br />Only that it never leave or disappear <br />We would always be together <br />It was how it had to be <br />And it is how it is <br />To this very day <br />We are still imprisoned by each other's limitations <br />We complete each day counting <br />The days like trophies <br />Marking another one on the wall <br />We never noticed that love had gone <br />We are so determined to make it work this time <br />We just keep going on and on and on.......... <br />And in our ignorance <br />We say we are happy <br />That's funny <br />Happy about what <br />That we're not dead<br /><br />Ted Sheridan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/life-of-the-married-living-dead/
