As he stands at the corner <br />Tears running down his cheek <br />Looking out into the distance <br />Searching for something <br />Only he can see <br />Something once very dear <br /> <br />Now all alone <br />In a solitude of darkness <br />Abandoned by those he loved <br />Left to fend for himself <br />In a world where darkness rules <br />And light finds no way through <br /> <br />How do you tell him <br />Not to fear <br />How can one say <br />Everything is alright <br />When deep down <br />They know it isn't <br />When he, himself knows <br />He is all alone <br />Abandoned by those he cared for <br /> <br />Where does one find the courage <br />To carry on, to not dwell <br />On a painfull thought <br />To look at the world <br />with indifference <br />When you know you where unwanted <br /> <br />How could they do this to him <br />How could they cause so much pain <br />What will become of this child <br />Who will care for him <br />Who will comfort him <br />Who will show him <br />That love still exists <br /> <br />As more tears fall <br />Down his devastated face <br />Realisation finally dawns <br />He is all alone <br />left, abandoned on his own <br />For what reason <br />He will never know <br /> <br />As helplessness consumes him <br />His last strengh fails <br />And he falls to the floor <br />I think to myself <br />How can you ever teach him <br />To love again <br />When it was love <br />That abandoned him <br />To fend the world <br />On a corner of a street<br /><br />Taryn Mervis<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/child-abandoned/
