Don’t you wish beautiful old barns <br />Would last till the end of time? <br />But weather worn and tattered <br />They do live past their prime <br /> <br />They do the best they can, of course <br />Sheltered animals over many years <br />But when the time is over <br />Their destruction brings us tears <br /> <br />It’s the same with country windmills <br />They stand tall for many years <br />But unless they are taken care of <br />They won’t last long we always fear <br /> <br />Old Bridges also dot the land <br />I noticed one in particularly <br />Puddled from a summer rain <br />But standing so gracefully <br /> <br />For that is the way of the country <br />Air so fresh and earthy and fair <br />There is no place that compares with <br />Old barns, windmills & country air!<br /><br />Marilyn Lott<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/old-barns-windmills-country-air/
