Did you ever have a time in your life <br />When you just couldn’t get it together? <br />Perhaps you’re headed pretty straight <br />Then things changed just like the weather <br /> <br />The folks you thought you could trust <br />Just seem to turn against you <br />Confused and a little resentful <br />No one in your life seems to be true <br /> <br />This is how I felt one morning <br />As I was driving without any direction <br />I stopped at a small country church <br />It was not any particular selection <br /> <br />Stepping through the worn creaky door <br />I noticed the pews were worn too <br />It was silent almost eerie inside <br />I think you would have felt it too <br /> <br />I sat my sad weary bones down <br />In the back of this little church <br />Looking up at a statue of Jesus <br />It was as though he had seen me first <br /> <br />As I sat there you would not believe <br />The peace that seeped under my skin <br />Right to the very heart of me <br />I felt like a person without sin <br /> <br />This little ole’ country town <br />With a small little church within <br />That day vanished my feeling of anger <br />And I became at peace once again!<br /><br />Marilyn Lott<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/small-country-church/
