I looked at you today, for the first time in a while, <br />Couldn’t help but notice how much you make me smile. <br />I looked up into your eyes and really tried to see, <br />If what was on your mind today, was thinking about me. <br /> <br />So today I really tried to see you, <br />See if I could find an answer, <br />Would you finally pull through, <br />And be that guy, <br />I always loved and knew, <br />Or be that guy, <br />Who would pass me by? <br /> <br />Today’s a new day, maybe now I can finally slow down, <br />But today I couldn’t find you, and misery just came around, <br />I knew you were too good to actually be so true, <br />but finally you pulled me close and whispered in my ear, <br />“Where’s that smile I love to see, why is it bein’ replaced with a frown, <br />Where’s that loud and giggly laugh, that you know I love to hear? ” <br /> <br />And now my head’s just spinning, <br />This is too good to be true, <br />But from ear to ear I’m grinning, <br />You’re that guy I loved and knew. <br /> <br />I smiled to myself, as I looked at you today, <br />Because I finally know, what I didn’t know before, <br />Which is: you just have to believe and everything will be O.k., <br />I noticed this as you took my hand and walked me to my door, <br />You took my hands, and lips to kiss then without a word walked right past, <br />I stood there confused, speechless and cold, <br />Then you turned around and said, “Forever.” <br />I started to ask but you cut in and finished, “That’s how long I hope this lasts.”<br /><br />tierney lyn<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-looked-at-you-today/
