To those who so faithfully believe in God that they call themselves Christians
I am confused.
I see them driving to church in their fancy cars and pretty outfits,
Yet they tell me I should give more to the poor

I see them at the grocery store yelling profanities at their playful children
Yet, they don’t yell profanities in God’s house.
I see them in church half asleep, head bobbing up and down
Yet they wake their children early to come along

I see the young man who tells his youth group peers his promise to wait until
marriage
Yet his friends at school know the truth, and so does his girlfriend
I see the young girls at church dressed moderately and sitting quietly
Yet when she is with her friends, she leaves nothing to the imagination

I see the perfectly healthy people parking in handicapped parking spots
I see the greediness of money to build a bigger and better church
I see the troubled gentleman who is always late stealing alcohol
I see so much that I try so hard to see nothing

I see… the list goes on and on.
It’s really troublesome to me…so much that I don’t know how to end this
poem.

Jennifer Unknown

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/you-call-yourself-what/
