I strolled through the County Fairgrounds,
Deserted and enveloped by the sun's rays.
There came to me the fond memories
Of the County Fairs of bygone years.

Entertainment and activities for everyone,
Farm animals and hearty produce on display,
Candied apples, funnel cakes, goodies galore
Consumed by the fairgoers during their stay.

The aroma of cooked food filtered the air,
Savory hotdogs and hamburgers paving the way,
Show casing of the artistry and many crafts,
All mingled during the entire day.

Voices of auctioneers and vendors shouting,
How vociferous and persuasive they seem?
I heard the revving of stock car engines
As drivers prepared to win a race for their team.

Where else but at the annual County Fair
Can the attractions and activities be a thrill?
Time has passed by swiftly since my first visit,
But the dreams and memories remain real.
.

Joseph T.
