The day opens with a gray nondescript sky
Yellowing leaves strewn haphazardly
on the patchy lawn below my bedroom window.
The air motionless outside except for an occasional breeze
Blowing lazily past the tops of the oak and maple trees
And the form of two black ravens streaking across overhead.

The hazy fall scene mirroring back to me
The forlorn quiet stillness I feel inside.
Sitting with my own thoughts,
After the searing rawness of loss.
Finding renewed strength within
To face the sad beauty of a new day.

Tricia Mae Chua

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/sitting-in-stillness/
