It was a time when life was hard <br />So when oil had been found <br />Boom towns began to spring up <br />Creating this Oklahoma town <br /> <br />Folks heard about it, you see <br />And poured into this busy area <br />When the oil finally gushed <br />There was literally mass hysteria <br /> <br />Refineries had to be built, of course <br />And more jobs opened up then <br />Life changed so very quickly <br />As this huge industry began <br /> <br />And once the area opened up <br />Homes were built and life flourished <br />Stores and schools were built as well <br />Families of course had to be nourished <br /> <br />I think it’s pretty exciting, don’t you? <br />To look at pictures from back in those days <br />We need to remember what led up to <br />Our wonderful modern day ways!<br /><br />Marilyn Lott<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/oil-boom-town/
