My wife has a White Eyed Conure <br />It is like a parrot only smaller <br />He is green with beautifully colored wings <br />Damn thing talks more than I do <br />About everything he sees and feels <br />Probably because he isn’t medicated <br />Like I am <br />A regular head shrink that little fellow <br />He likes to fly around the house <br />Me…I just walk around with my fly open <br />He goes swooping by <br />Room to room <br />Looking for someone to talk to <br />He talks about us being his parents <br />Because we’re the only ones he’s ever known <br />He picks on our dog because she’s a beagle <br />She just ignores his advances and keeps sleeping <br />She knows we love her too <br />Old girl could swallow him in one bite should she have the notion <br />Some days when he’s squawking <br />That doesn’t seem like such a tragedy <br />The bird’s name is Chubby <br />He likes to dance and rock and roll <br />He thinks he can do the twist better than Chubby Checker <br />And he probably can <br />Probably because he isn’t medicated___ <br />Chubby needs his caged cleaned every day <br />Chubby needs his fruit cut up into little pieces <br />Chubby needs constant attention <br />Chubby needs to be medicated or put in a parrot day care center…. <br /> <br />Laughter…because I am medicated...self medicated and my fly is open <br /> <br /> <br /> 2007 © T Sheridan<br /><br />Ted Sheridan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/birdie-daycare-system/
