Why should I sleep? <br />After the hustle and bustle <br />Of a dreary cacophonic day <br />When calm returns <br />With the dying sun <br />Shouldn’t I be awake? <br />To enjoy the break! <br /> <br /> <br />When night spreads <br />Its dark blanket <br />And wind hums <br />Sweet lullabies, <br />Slowly comes the moon <br />To charm wakeful babies! <br />Why should I sleep? <br /> <br />Is coming of the night <br />A celebration in the skies <br />The moon’s garden is lit <br />With shimmering starlight <br />What’s the theme tonight? <br />Glitter-glitter, glow-glow! ! ! <br />I would like to know! <br /> <br />What is the night’s plan? <br />Just be there and be gone! <br />Or nature’s secret meeting <br />Serious talks and social sermon <br />Reports of people resting and not <br />Emergency service for insomniac lot <br />I like to sneak into their plot! ! ! <br /> <br />I couldn’t think of slumber <br />With a night as alive as day <br />Till late midnight I put up the fight <br />Couldn’t hold on to my resolve <br />And the secret agents came <br />Cast a spell of desire for rest <br />I didn’t know when I dozed away!<br /><br />Seema Aarella<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/why-should-i-sleep/
