Do you ever take some time, my friend
To stop and remember the past?
Just like a familiar old movie reel
Memories that will forever last

Why, I can see grandma as plain as day
Rolling out dough on a board
Chopping up those tart apples
From the cellar where they were stored

I see grandpa working out in the fields
Ready to feed the curious cows
Those cows standing in a straight line
And beyond I see the old plow

The old house standing tall and strong
The wrap-around porch beckoning me
Ah yes, there is that old board-seat swing
Hanging from the huge sycamore tree

A windmill out in the wheat field
The wind making swishing sounds
As the bending wheat blows softly
The windmill going ‘round and ‘round

The happiness from my childhood
Of family, friends and of play
Sends me back so many years
But it seems just like yesterday!

Marilyn Lott

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/just-like-yesterday-3/
