It was in the months of spring, <br />when blossoms bloom, and sparrows sing <br />when I first tasted her sweet lips <br />and knew the warmth of that first kiss <br />just me and her, no one else <br />it felt her soul was spring itself <br />how her breath was brisk just like the wind <br />her heart could fit a million men <br />in her arms, time went slow <br />her love was all I needed to know <br />yet treachery came in the form of a friend <br />and jelousy aroused as she held his hand <br />my heart turned bitter, as if made of stone <br />I could not bare the torment of being alone <br />so I challenged his right, but before I could start <br />I felt his blade drive deep in my heart <br />yet he could not see the steel in my hand <br />not hesitating to shoot as I bled in the sand <br />now I felt the coolness, the tears of my queen <br />one last kiss, one last breath of spring.<br /><br />Brian David Holmes<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-breath-of-spring-2/
