I lurk so smooth through the butterfly sea, <br />the tall green grass slides right by me. <br /> <br />A world of blue towers just above, <br />it’s days like this that I love. <br /> <br />My pinstriped face blends with the sun, <br />your wings do flutter oh little one. <br /> <br />This dangerous dance we shared ‘til now, <br />for one it shall end somehow. <br /> <br />My shoulders hunch, <br />your wings are taut, <br />I lunge; you fly, <br />that’s all I’ve got. <br /> <br />I taste the earth before I stagger, <br />looking down to see empty daggers. <br /> <br />You slip away from hungry paws, <br />and then I hear a dear friend call. <br /> <br />I stand again and still you flee, <br />I turn and leave the butterfly sea. <br /> <br /> <br />Written January 9,2008 <br />by my Daughter, she is 14<br /><br />Pam Thomas<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-butterfly-sea/
