I listened to strange instruments <br />which played a haunting eldritch tune <br />and witnessed wonderful events. <br />Beneath a twisted sickle moon. <br /> <br />I know not where I was nor when. <br /> Some power had transported me. <br />Far, far beyond all human ken <br />As witness to weird revelry. <br /> <br />I saw strange hybrid creatures dance <br /> to music played discordantly <br />but none gave me a second glance. <br />It was if they could not see <br /> <br /> or maybe did not want to see. <br />I was entranced I could not stir <br /> and so I watched reluctantly. <br />These scaly beings dressed in fur. <br /> <br />I was afraid but I kept calm <br />It would do to show my fear <br />I was quite sure they meant no harm. <br />There was some reason I was here. <br /> <br />But what it was I could not guess <br />Perhaps its better not know <br />Although I did know thankfulness <br /> when finally they let me go. <br /> <br />I found myself in my own bed <br /> I’m not convinced it was a dream <br />I still remember it with dread. <br />Things are not always as they seem <br /> <br />Although I often fantasise <br /> I am quite certain this was real <br />I’m wise enough to realise <br /> its something that I can’t reveal <br /> <br /> Who could believe my story true. <br />Neither my enemies nor friends. <br />I’ve told my tale I ask can you? <br /> An honest answer won’t offend. <br /> <br />11-Feb-08<br /><br />ivor or ivor.e hogg<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/can-you-for-m-lady-lucianne/
