Faces and Forums <br /> <br />Do we really want an answer <br />Are we questioning ourselves <br />Are we flitting in the ether like some <br />Insubstantial elves? <br />We tell the world and noone <br />The fraudster he might listen <br />Faceless little facebooks - <br />Sentences and prison. <br />Fleeting, flirting, flatulence <br />Accentuating sins <br />videos of student days <br />With mad and maudlin grins <br />Sending up the river our little bits of fame, <br />We do a dance, we do a flip, we sing <br />and praise our name <br />Are we looking for an answer <br />Or just another shout <br />A wriggle in the Universe <br />What is it all about? <br />What does this stark projection <br />Achieve across a day <br />Does it test our social skills or <br />Moulder them away? <br />Have we so adapted to a world upon a screen <br />that the daylight is not bright enough <br />And life remains unseen? <br />We pander to our popups and <br /> little burpy beeps <br />Smilies at the ready and scowlies for the creeps <br />Conceivably, believably we have a million friends <br />But have we got a neighbour <br />To nurse us at the end?<br /><br />Yvonne Rautenbach<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/faces-and-forums/
