I turn my back
Fights break out immediately
At each other like
A pack of wolves

Screaming echoes behind me
As I walk away
Close my eyes and
Hold my hands to my ears

Press firmly to block any sound
And any reason to go back
Back to that life,
Walking into a fresh beginning.

Anger flies past as you walk by
I feel my heart beat a thousand times more
Hoping your anger will not be taken out on me
Hoping, that I don’t take another beating.

Things thrown over my head,
Precious things that hold ever-lasting memories
All broken, all shattered on the floor
Right next to me, this is the floor I walk on.

Trembling legs holding me back
Saying something good could come out of this
But to me the only good
Is death.

Tears stream down my face
Now my legs have given in
I run as fast as I can
To an unknown destination

But wherever that destination is
That will be my new home
Trouble-free
That’s what I want my life to be!

Nicole Faye Evans

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-day-hopefully-never-repeated/
