I am from a past full of hurt and pain, <br />sometimes it feels as if I've been to hell and back again. <br />I am the girl who sometimes feels as if life is a hopeless fight, <br />Some of the things I hide would make you die in fright. <br />I am the child who constantly asks why, <br />the one who hates seeing pain in your eyes. <br />I am labeled, I am stressed, <br />I am judged, simply by how I dress. <br />I am the girl who finds it hard to forgive, <br />and I am the trusting toddler who is sometimes too quick to forgive. <br />I am the curly fry in the box of originals, <br />different, individual, and real, <br />yet I am the shadows in the dark who slowly disappear, <br />fading fast, hating what I see in the mirror. <br />I am the hope of a smiling face, <br />yet I can be as gloomy as a sky of rain, threatening to flood the place. <br />I am who you think you know, plus so much more, <br />A girl who's moving past the pain of this heart so sore. <br />I am the sinner, being given a second chance, <br />I am the curious child, absorbing everything in a small, accurate glance. <br />I am some of what you see, and some of what you don't, <br />but if you give me a chance, you'll see the chords, not just the notes. <br />Give me a chance to prove myself and show you what I can be, <br />Please, all I'm asking for, is to be free to be me.<br /><br />beautiful imperfection<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-am-166/
