The Maiden <br />Many a tear doth burn slow down my cheeks <br />My Lover hath Left, oh, my Lover is gone <br />Lady-in-waiting, I am, as he seeks, <br />to Kings throne and war, my Knight, he be drawn. <br />The Maiden youth and her Bawcock Knight strong, <br />war pulled them apart from Lover's embrace <br />'Fare-thee-well, my Knight, for my heart will long.' <br />I say as new tears, old paths they retrace. <br />Morrow after Morrow, my heavy heart, <br />for my dear brave Knight's horn call, it awaits. <br />Letter sealed news, my Knight's life hath part. <br />Death's sweet kiss touched my lips, Oh the ill fates! <br />Star-crossed lovers, an attraction fatal, <br />Hath the Knight and his Lady, Death doth cradle. <br /> <br />The Knight <br />To far away places my feet do tread <br />from the Lady I love, I go away. <br />By worn trail made of stone, my feet are lead <br />but with my Belove'd, my heart will stay. <br />The Handsome Knight, The Ravishing Dame <br />For My return to home, We are waiting <br />'The tears that fall, I am to blame. <br />But for thy sweet love, I am awaiting.' <br />My sword is drawn and battle rages 'round <br />Through my heart, where love lives, pierced by a spear <br />My wedding bed be a burial mound <br />In my last breath, I felt death to me draw near <br />Fated love, Death kissed Beauty and Her Love <br />Their only wedding guest, a Mourning dove. <br />(2008)<br /><br />Sami Balts<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-knight-and-the-maiden/
