Been waiting to escape my past <br />Filled with mem'ries I thought would last <br />Diaries, photos, everything <br />I thought would mean a lot someday. <br /> <br />Put them there a long time ago <br />Thought back then that I would know <br />That it would be forever and ever <br />I knew I was that clever. <br /> <br />But alas, a big storm waited <br />To render all things I had displaced <br />Never to return to the state <br />Which I loved and treasured till late. <br /> <br />Hard it may be, I didn't see <br />The things which were in store for me <br />I was scared in setting it free <br />That I may lose a part of me. <br /> <br />But life goes on and on <br />And I don't be the one <br />To live in the past, oh no <br />I have to finally let go. <br /> <br />So now I'll do what I ought to <br />Sought out the box, and soon <br />It will be just a pile of ashes <br />Burning a past filled with regret.<br /><br />Cristelle Elaine Collera<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/leaving-the-past/
