As slowly my eyes start to close,
It gets dark and it sure is cold,
I hear a voice calling, but I don’t know from were,
What could it be? I as myself,
It looks like a dream, but it feels like reality,
Could it be my destiny, or maybe my death?
I see a figure in front of me,
I try to touch it, but my hand just goes through,
As I look in his eyes,
I realize this is reality and I don’t seem surprised,
I see the day of my birth through his eyes,
As I look at the picture,
I realize I’ve been taken from earth and given birth again?
I ask to myself,
Take it as a second chance he said to me,
Will I be myself and not someone else?
Will my life change or just be a waist of time,
I asked the lord to help me make up my mind,
Don’t leave me blind so I won’t make a mistake,
I refused the offer that he said was mine,
Because I don’t want to leave something behind that once was mine,
And I don’t have no more,
Just for the waist of time, that they gave me to change my life,
But I’ll go on, take what’s mine and leave nothing behind,
For I’m not afraid to look back in time,
And realize I’ve done wrong, but still go on keeping my hopes up,
Waiting to see what tomorrow brings me.

David Martinez

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-chance-4/
