The sky is a mixture of clouds blue and gray <br />And the sun at intervals shines through on this warm Spring day <br />With a high of a humid thirty one degrees <br />And little relief from the heat in the freshening sea breeze <br />So beautiful to watch the white butterflies <br />From the garden flower beds effortlessly rise <br />They do seem to dance in the warm coastal air of Nature a marvellous surprise <br />Them in their performing their courtship display great beauty to the watchers eyes <br />The dark and grey new holland honeyeater on the flowering bottle brush it's wings fringed with gold <br />No beauty to rival or so it does seem that is in Nature to behold <br />The flute of the magpie melodious and clear the magpie lark pee wee does sing <br />It seems more like a day in the Summer's warm prime than an October Afternoon of the Spring <br />The breeze from the ocean it even feels warm white butterflies dance in the air <br />And a group of teenage boys play football in the park the coastal breeze tossing their hair.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-humid-october-day/
