Humanity remember; <br />remember that which <br />you most surely know, <br />that from which you come, <br />that to which you go, <br />that in which you rest, <br />your essence, your home. <br /> <br />Shining bright lava <br />springing from the depths, <br />how quickly it cools <br />on meeting the air, <br />how dark the thin crust <br />that conceals what is there. <br />Each mighty mountain, <br />from where it first came, <br />(how far from its centre) <br />but still just the same. <br />Shaped by the wind <br />of lifetimes exposed <br />and lovingly covered <br />with purest white snow. <br />At its feet the great forests <br />and rivers that flow, <br />reaching the ocean, <br />(the ocean that knows) . <br /> <br />Humanity remember; <br />remember that which <br />you most surely know, <br />the source of the mountain, <br />the depth of the ocean, <br />the rivers which flow, <br />your essence, your home.<br /><br />David Taylor<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/seated-in-the-heart-of-all-beings/
