Within the realms of darkness, <br />our nightmares stalk us <br />to haunt our mortal fears <br />in the hours we are awake. <br />They prey upon our fears <br />from the shadows of our mind. <br />Hiding in alleyways <br />that we leave behind <br />their footsteps can be heard <br />following close behind <br />as we traverse a new day. <br />Keeping us looking over our shoulder <br />ever watchful for what’s behind. <br />Even in the safety of love’s heart, <br />we look uneasily around <br />for within the realms of darkness <br />our nightmares compound <br />to haunt us there <br />as they spy on us <br />from the shadows everywhere. <br /> <br /> <br />14 November 2009<br /><br />David Harris<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/realms-of-darkness/
