Faith and hope of man <br />Mother of the land <br />Height upon which life does stand <br /> <br />Evolution's very means <br />Essence of humanity's dreams <br />Every child's queen <br /> <br />Fuel of passion soul of devotion <br />She is the image her reflection the ocean <br />Her eyes cure all like a potion <br /> <br />Idolatry has laid her low <br />Convincing man she is their woe <br />So we love her as a foe <br /> <br />With scaled eyes and shame fed pride <br />Men fight the truth and live the lie <br />In our folly women die <br /> <br />Mothers turn to a muddy marsh <br />A son's devotion is offered harsh <br />A beautiful glimpse of a perfect farce <br /> <br />To honor her is declared a sin <br />Admitting defeat is letting her win <br />Slandering our ancient kin <br /> <br />Now I will accept the fate <br />Of challenging this sacred hate <br />Her simple image of a simple mate <br /> <br />Have I been tricked by her wicked looks <br />Exposed in all the sacred books <br />Or are they in truth the real crooks <br /> <br />I'll make my stance with her ways <br />Not in worship but in praise <br />Committed to learn to change these days <br /> <br />That beat her like she was owned <br />Rule her like she is the throne <br />Then cited weakness when she moaned <br /> <br />Her winter lasted far too long <br />In the cold she's proven strong <br />Now is the time to sing her song.<br /><br />Tim caffery<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/female/
