Do you wish me to bare the scares of my soul; <br />To strip me down, to stand and watch me bleed? <br />I’ve lived in this vacuum for so long, clean of love, <br />Nurturing and protecting an abandoned seed. <br /> <br />I can feel these nails of passion burning hard <br />As they break through the skin on my hands and feet. <br />And as the vines close tightly around my heart <br />The tide is rising fast in these vast, forgotten seas. <br /> <br />Do you dare to fare across these waters alone, <br />Perilous and cold as they have grown to be? <br />Are you brave enough to endeavour to tame me, <br />But let me go if my wings need to fly away and be free? <br /> <br />How I have longed to feel this flame burning inside; <br />A storm has swept past a lonely mountains’ peak. <br />I am a soft white orchid transformed into a deep red rose. <br />A silent voice I had rejected is remembering how to speak. <br /> <br />But I am no fool, what is given can quickly be taken away, <br />A hot, long, day will always give up to the cool, dark night. <br />Once I have shown you all that I am you may leave me, <br />And this scarred little bird will spread her wings in fast flight. <br /> <br />9/3/10<br /><br />Fired Heart<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/this-heart-like-a-caged-crucifixion/
