I sit here staring at the sky
as calm waves rock the boat
no better feeling in the world
than to sit right here and float

my glasses blocking out the rays
that beam down on my skin
the clouds that line the bright blue sky
are whispy, white, and thin

another summer day drifts by
on the sandbar of Torch Lake
my friends and i are full of life,
content, and wide awake

I stand and find a clear blue spot,
inhale and take the plunge
soaking up the hapiness
like some type of sea sponge

I'm welcomed by the cool, kind waves
I feel like i belong
like I've found the place i need to be
and have looked for all along

somewhere beween the happiness
and waves so crystal clear
the joy just overthrows me
and diminishes my fears

seconds transform in to minutes
and minutes yield to hours
I put my busy life on hold
to stop and smell the flowers

when the day is drawing to and end
and the sun beams shine their last
this perfect day of harmony
has become part of my past

another school year rolls around
with choices i must make
and all the while i sit here
just dreaming of Torch Lake

E.A.
