The orchestra moves dreamlike <br />Under the oars of the music <br />The singer sways with the ebb and flow <br />Horns and trumpets hover like anemones <br />Searching in the sea flux for cues <br />Their round faces intent or bored <br />Awaiting their insertion into the blue matrix <br />Each solitary part graceless by itself <br />But mixed in among the eddies, they enchant- <br />Indefinite, whimsical shapes float overhead, <br />Dark lit by subtle moon glow <br />A mermaid struggles in a fisherman's net, <br />Sea monsters lurk in the depths below <br />A vain attempt to shake off probing tentacles: <br />Things the music awakens and stirs to life once more.<br /><br />Patti Masterman<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/awakening-47/
