Note from my mother, see you soon,
Home alone, all on my own,
Responsibility, bit of freedom,
Wait a minute, this can’t be Mum.

She tells me, in this note,
Home at seven, she wrote,
Chicken nuggets in the freezer, for tea,
Hate them, she never listens to me.

Do your homework, get a shower,
Being on my own, gives me feel of power,
Mum is strict, disciplinary tower,
When she’s at home all you get is a glower.

Stuff the nuggets, that’s what I say,
Forget the homework, it’s for Tuesday,
Order a pizza, that’s what I’ll do,
Eat lots of chocolate, I’ll do that too!

No! Can’t get a pizza, I’m skint,
The only sweet in the house is a measly mint,
No rebellion, no change,
She’d kill me anyway, if in range.

Francis Kelly

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/home-alone-15/
