The power of love and the power of music, <br />The power of romance and the power of emotion, <br />The power of stress and the power of passion, <br />The self-knowledge of our being's end and arms; <br />But this muse is like the winter storm! <br /> <br />The deserted village and the love of a country, <br />The last rose of the summer is here for you and me; <br />But sin and death is man's own history. <br /> <br />An oration over a dead body is like the kings at war! <br />And of the things to remember when your love leaves you; <br />For in September last year i was in Australia with my lover. <br /> <br />The wine-cup and the old clock on the stairs, <br />Open the window and let me remember the past; <br />But do try again when you missed the first attempt. <br /> <br />Sweet harmony and sweet love, <br />The quality of my mercy is not yet strained; <br />So blessed is hime who have and do give some to others, <br />For the power of love is at times like the winter storm! <br /> <br />How sweet the moonlight sleeps upon this bank, <br />For mercy is upon this sceptre sway; <br />And of such harmony and such love shared with, <br />The passion and the romance of the things around! <br /> <br />This winter storm is always arouns us and, <br />It creeps in like a snail learning how to walk in nature's ways; <br />But the watchful minutes of the hour is all about you and me! <br />For the muse of love has taken us that far.<br /><br />Edward Kofi Louis<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/winter-storm-5/
