At least 18 workers are trapped underground after an accident at a coal mine in Turkey. Twenty others have been rescued.<br /><br />An area of the pit in Karaman province was flooded with water while miners were working.<br /><br />Officials have said their chances of survival are slim unless they had reached a safety gallery. <br /><br />Rescuers have yet to make contact with the miners who are trapped 300 metres underground.<br /><br />Turkey’s emergency management agency believes the cause of the accident was a broken pipe in the mine.<br /><br />Earlier this year Turkey suffered its worst mining disaster when a fire killed 301 workers at a pit in Soma.
