Trying to be strong, <br />trying to hold it together. <br />I'm trying to tape this opened throng, <br />and piece it back forever. <br /> <br />I'm smiling on the surface, <br />not to the core. <br />I'm not quite at the base, <br />but somewhere just before. <br /> <br />I'm holding back the tears, <br />for will you think me weak? <br />Capturing all my fears; <br />their terrifying streak. <br /> <br />I'm putting on a facade, <br />and plastering this grin. <br />I'm holding it together for your aid, <br />but the despair seems to win. <br /> <br />I'm trying to catch a break, <br />and trying to win this fight. <br />Hiding this ache; <br />I'm keeping the sadness out of sight. <br /> <br />I don't know what to do, <br />I don't know how to help. <br />I'm hiding emotions at a few, <br />and trying not to wilt. <br /> <br />I'm lying through my teeth, <br />and waxing over my features. <br />I'm hiding what's beneath; <br />covering all my failures. <br /> <br />I'm not depressed, <br />I'm just sad.... <br />Stop giving me your best, <br />when I know how it's bad. <br /> <br />Stop watching me; <br />following me with your gaze. <br />I'm asking you this plea; <br />I'm not in a haze. <br /> <br />I'm aware; <br />I'm awake; <br />yes, I'm scared, <br />but It's nothing I can't take....<br /><br />Angel Jordan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-m-stronger-than-you-think/
