Age is just a number
It doesn't mean anything yet
It's the number of years from the day you were born
To the day when you can say that you're finally dead

Didn't you just hear what i said?
Haven't you learned anything from it
Well, not as much as i wish i did
But i'll just keep learning more of it

Because i'm still running away
From the sins i've yet to pay for
And you're still earning the days
Which have been rightfully yours

There's always somthing wrong with the world
Even as i sleep, i'm feeling a little disturbed
And maybe it's a lot closer to me than my words
As i'm helplessly reaching out to be heard

Though i'm still running away
From the crowd i've yet to sing for
And you're still earning your place
Among the desperate and the poor

And i still don't know who i am
Not even close enough to understand
Do i need some large amount of sand?
To fill my heart or fill my hands?

Age is just a number, you see
And we've got ourselves to believe
There's always a hole somewhere deep
And until i find it, i'll just keep on learning

Lubna Hazeem

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/age-is-just-a-number-2/
