Things used to be so simple, <br />Back in the good ole days. <br />When the worst thing was a wrinkle, <br />On some pants you'd iron away. <br /> <br />Nobody locked their front door, <br />And everybody said hello. <br />There was just one country store, <br />Where the gossip used to flow. <br /> <br />The milkman brought glass bottles, <br />And left them by your door. <br />And the milk was always good and cold, <br />It chilled you to the core. <br /> <br />There used to be an iceman, <br />That made his rounds each day. <br />And left you big ole blocks of ice, <br />Before he went away. <br /> <br />At night you'd sit out on the porch, <br />And hear the radio. <br />Through all the stations you would search, <br />Until The Wolfman said hello. <br /> <br />Neighbors would walk by, and sometimes, <br />They would stop and talk a while. <br />Just to be neighborly and say hi, <br />Back when I as a child. <br /> <br />Things used to be so simple, <br />And life was slower paced I'd say. <br />When you could iron out wrinkles, <br />Back in the good ole days. <br /> <br />12/9/10 Alton Texas<br /><br />Juan Olivarez<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/back-in-the-good-ole-days/
