I sat there and took note every thought and feeling that had materialized in the clouds of smoke from the flame. <br />In front of my friends, I noticed. Envy in their moments of happiness. Happiness in their displeasure. <br />After the loss of a loved one, I gave. Despair to my self. Sadness to others. <br />In the moment of my biggest failure, I felt worthless and unknown. <br />I questioned. In the knowing wake of my own unhappiness, I heard a voice. <br />The self spoke, seeing the ‘I’ in its utmost purity and for its utmost ignorance to everything else and suddenly the ‘I’ recognized itself. Alone. Pitiful. Fearful. <br /> <br />The friends laugh and the lives pass and failures succeed. <br />The pain is known.
