He held her still beating heart in his cold hands <br />His dark eyes appraising her body by the moon's gleam <br />Placing the heart in a wrought-iron box <br />He turned and walked away from the scene <br /> <br />She stood and brushed the dust from herself <br />Looking around for the boy she had found <br />His dark hair and eyes had mesmerized her <br />As he'd lain her within the circle on the ground <br /> <br />He bowed before the Dark One, making offer <br />Of the box, that was placed at His feet <br />He opened the box and devoured the heart <br />The blood running down over His teeth <br /> <br />'Well done, my childe! ' the demon exclaimed <br />As he plucked a napkin from the table <br />Wiping his mouth and cleaning the blood <br />As best as was he able <br /> <br />'Her soul is now mine to do with as I please!
