I first seen you in the lot <br />Shiny and new, a beautiful red <br />The rally rims, the racing look <br />Sporty and fast, slick and slim <br />Under the hood a 326 engine <br />When running, sounds of power <br />The revving of the engine raises the heartbeat <br />Full of excitement to see what it could do <br />Inside a beautiful black interior <br />Bucket seats, a shifter on the floor <br />A state of the art AM radio <br />To play the tunes of the 60s <br />A ride for my favorite gal would love <br />The Trim of chrome, the cherry red <br />I have drawn many pictures of this beast <br />A desire to own and to drive at top speed <br />The odometer tops at 130, I want to try <br />Push it to the limit, feel the power <br />Race down the road, fly over the hills <br />Soaring thru the wind, squealing tires <br />Burning rubber across the pavement <br />10 mph up to 20,30 next 40 and 50 faster <br />Before you know it,70mph the engine races on <br />80,90 racing the heart and feeling the rush <br />Flying pass the trees like fence post in a line <br />100 mph feel the car shaking, bouncing over the road <br />110 mph the read and blue light come on <br />A fading race as the the cop catches up <br />A man dreaming of racing ends pricey <br />Come to reality fast and furious <br />I wake for daydreaming <br />That Firebird will be mine <br />When I am older, because I am only 8 <br />50 years later, I see her again <br />The Beautiful Cherry Red Bird <br />The car an 8 year old always dreamed of <br />Older and wiser, but still young in side <br />Firebird take me for a powerful fast ride.<br /><br />Michael Peterson<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/8-year-old-dream/
