Birthday cake, party cake, <br />Wedding cake: in fact any cake will do, <br />I love that sweet soft butter and sugar sponge, <br />It can be a Victoria cake, a chocolate cake, <br />It can be a small cake, it can be a large cake, <br />It can have icing, it can have butter cream, <br />It can have a jam filling and cream on top, <br />It can be covered with strawberries or raspberries, <br />The cake can have a cherry on top, <br />Or just chocolate flakes or candy sprinkles. <br />There're so many varieties available, <br />And I love lemon drizzle and carrot cakes, <br />Whether the cake is homemade or shop bought, <br />Is irrelevant to me, all that matters is it tastes good, <br />For cake is more than a happy birthday: <br />It is a celebration of graduations, anniversaries, <br />Bank Holidays, summer days, trips away, <br />And each bite tastes like heaven, <br />Everyone enjoying their cake, <br />For the party has begun, <br />My tastebuds looking for a slice of cake, <br />For year round fun.<br /><br />Paula Glynn<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-want-cake/
