Lewis Eron - Confessional Prayers on Yom Kippur

2014-10-29 2 Dailymotion

Whenever you do something wrong
Its time to sing a merry song
Or maybe two - one short, one long
Just to say, “I’m sorry.”

Never know how to confess
To something great or something less
Make sure to end with a healthy “God bless”
When you say, “I’m sorry.”

For every transgression, crime and sin
For every devious deed it took to win
Just raise you voice in this cheerful din
Singing out, “I’m sorry.”

So many sins, so little time
Did you notice, the lines all rhyme
Or beat you chest in prayerful pantomime
And try to say, “I’m sorry.”

Now we’re about to feel God’s grace
Do not slacken! Keep up your pace!
Erase your sin! There’ll be no trace!
When you say, “I’m sorry.”

You feel burdened, sin oppressed,
Slightly down, or really depressed
You tried to go forward but merely regressed
Its time to say, “I’m sorry.”

We’ll improve this coming year
We’ll love those far and near
And do better. Do not fear,
Because we say, “I’m sorry.”

Sing your sins out, nice and loud
Join your voice with the prayerful crowd
Stand up straight, head unbowed
Calling out, “I’m sorry.”

We’re not dead. Our life’s not done.
We still have time for good, clean fun
And something new under the sun
Since we are all sincerely sorry.

Lewis Eron

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/confessional-prayers-on-yom-kippur/
