He had black skin to look at <br />But white soul beneath <br />Glowing in darkness of the world <br />With whiteness of his good deeds, <br />Love, compassion and selfless service, <br />A pure, true and great soul <br />All committed and devoted to humanity! <br /> <br />His was a strong voice <br />For the black poor people <br />Long lacerated in the white corridor <br />Due to their inhumane practices <br />Of so-called racial distinction; <br />An anti-apartheid hero <br />He dethroned the apartheid rule <br />Under the blackness of which <br />Humanity was bleeding <br />Both in and around <br />Amid heart-rending woes and cries <br />Tearing the vast firmament, <br />For a compassionate look at their plight! <br /> <br />And he stood alone <br />Against the might of the white <br />Walking on the road of freedom <br />For liberating the black <br />And their imprisoned soul <br />From the clutches of the white <br />To let them see the light of the day <br />As their human right <br />Heralding an era of social equality. <br /> <br />The black Gandhi of South Africa <br />Following the footprints of Gandhi of India <br />Was a true harbinger of humanity <br />Who restored the dignified freedom <br />And inculcated a deep sense of equality <br />In the black and the depressed classes <br />Of South Africa and also those of the world!<br /><br />Bhaskaranand Jha Bhaskar<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/nelson-mandela-gandhi-of-south-africa/
