Last month, we embarked on a journey unknown;
She and I left for a place we could not sojourn.
It was long coming so there was nothing to bemoan
And it was no time to look back, no margin to postpone

In the twinkle of an eye we were swept away by a cyclone
She and I, ascended in a bubble on a journey unknown
It may have been too early to count it a milestone
But we loved every moment of it, for we were left alone

She came into my life just as I felt the need to enthrone
Someone to embark with me on the journey unknown
And at first I didn’t give her a chance for she was home grown
But after a few tête-à-têtes I felt myself windblown.

We spoke to our elders and they did not condone;
Our serious plans to embark on the journey unknown.
An expedition in which we are assured to moan and groan
Yet a place with an aroma sweeter than the nicest cologne.

What lies ahead of us we are told is unbeknown
Even to those that have already embarked on this journey unknown
Where some fights could be an outcome of a bad hormone
And the retaliation could result in a broken jawbone

But we plead for your prayers so that we do not disown
Our friendship, in this embarked journey unknown
When winds blow that threaten to dethrone
And punches are thrown that leave bruised cheekbone.

Kuda Bondamakara

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-journey-unknown/
