Sitting on a chair of stone <br />Feeling regal on a throne <br />Really just a rocky slab <br />With sharp edge into me does stab <br /> <br />Sitting in my majestic chair <br />Without a worry or a care <br />On a hillside below the path <br />With sunlight for my bath <br /> <br />Washing life's cares away <br />Easing pains brought by day <br />Lush and green around my perch <br />Near my right looms mighty birch <br /> <br />Brightness arcing low in the sky <br />Through cloudless blue it does fly <br />Bathing light soothing and warm <br />And on the left tiny gnats do swarm <br /> <br />Nearby chirping is a melodious jay <br />My throne was bathed for hours today <br />Fevered granite comforting my back <br />Worries of the day my mind does lack <br /> <br />At my feet lays green valley wide <br />In the distance graceful birds glide <br />He told me today he loves me not <br />My heart now seems a great black knot <br /> <br />Sun lowers into the west afar <br />Behind in the east shines the first star <br />Fiery reds in front like warrior Mars <br />Behind gentle Venus washing the days scars <br /> <br />Brightness fades, new moon darkness <br />Sparkling uncountable in nights richness <br />Brightest of all rises gentle Venus <br />Of peace and love she is true genius <br /> <br />Sitting on my chair of stone <br />Feeling regal on a throne <br />Tomorrow life shall still go on <br />But in my heart will be no John<br /><br />Darlene Walsh<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/gentle-venus/
