His journey had been tough and hard,
Like trudging up steep rocky hills.
His life was a plain and simple one,
With no whistles, bells or frills!

He loved to read from the Good Book;
His motto was the Golden Rule.
Though he had not a one degree,
He surely was no man’s fool.

“Ole Man” is the name he liked most,
And these words he often would say,
“I’m an ole man, ’cause my good Lord
Gone and give me just one more day.”

So, we’re here to pay our respect
To this one who has stood the test.
Finally, his life’s race is over,
This Old Man can be laid to rest.

Loyd C.
