Two states <br />- - - - - - - <br />As if poles apart <br />After decades of debate <br />A tool to split <br />A holy land <br />Into singles rolled out <br />And permission given <br />To have heavens <br />To have morns <br />To have evenings <br />To have nights of their own <br />Evokes mixed response <br />Of anguish and joy <br />At the slightest mention <br />And it makes no difference <br />Yet now marked <br />With a new circumference <br />The seasons are the same <br />Not oblivious are the Sun <br />And the Moon to shine on them <br />The rivers flow <br />The flowers bloom <br />The woods go wild <br />The butterflies flutter <br />The birds twitter <br />And the wind blows <br />That carries pathos of separation <br />It hurts <br />And now we have one more state <br />To our addition <br />I was a pilgrim to that holy land <br />Now wish both with happy ends <br />While politics never cease <br />To harvest their petty ends………<br /><br />DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/two-states/
