Once I was an aquatic nymph <br />For long I hid myself under cover <br />None seemed to have spotted me <br />Not knowing, there existed another domain, <br />Of sunshine and of gentle breeze, <br />I confined myself in a nether world. <br />I don't know if I was happy myself then <br />Albeit, during my prolonged stay in water <br />Once I had an eerie sensation <br />And in my body happened a rare configuration <br />A pair of filmy wings sprouted on either side <br />That looked like thin strips of gossamer <br />They were so weightless for my body to bear <br />And on my head emerged a pair of bulging eyes <br />Perhaps a little incongruous for my tiny size <br /> <br />Feeling an insatiable urge to fly <br />Leaving the confines of that slushy pond <br />I rocketed myself into the far flung sky <br />Where I wandered proud and free <br />Like a little wisp of wonderment <br />It was indeed my second birth! <br /> <br />In my new found freedom, <br />I soared higher and still higher <br />Reeling round on iridescent wings <br />Hovering buoyant in mid air <br />I heard some children excitedly exclaim <br /> <br />'Dragonfly…. Dragonfly! Hurray! ' <br />'Hush…!
