My pen bops and moves in slow cadence <br />To the soft throb of melodic words <br />Inviting poetry Come <br />Partake in this great celebration <br />Of freedom and sovereignty <br />Earned from fiery struggles <br />Burnt into our history like cane <br />Not by fame or favour <br />But with sweat and fortitude <br />For love of country this freedom came <br />In sleepless nights and endless toil <br />To battle rule of crown <br />Fathers of our nation, brothers of our soil <br />You who travail with determination and triumph <br />Hurdling systems of political barriers <br />And fierce foreign strife <br />To liberate this country <br />From clutch of colony <br />How your tears must have flowed <br />To bring us this liberty <br />Though, now silenced into the night <br />And in your peaceful eminence lie <br />Yet still, your coat of glory wears <br />It's my prayer that you will hear <br />It is for you I do this pen dance <br />Like a flag, I raise this poem high <br />Hail, accept my gratitude and praise<br /><br />Cheryl Griffith<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/pen-dance/
