A woman's too tired to think,
About the dirty dishes in the kitchen sink,
Problems are just too much,
It seems the world,
Has come crashing down,
On my head.

I am pushed aside,
I am left to pick up the pieces,
When I thought,
We could work things out,
But all you do is shout,
Our marriage a disaster.

I thought we could stick together,
But there are just too many issues,
And mopping the floor won't help,
Washing the laundry won't fix us,
And since I can't drive,
I will catch the bus to my sister.

For we need a break:
We're just not working.
I don't know the next step,
But those dirty dishes,
Are just like our life together:
Unclean and needing something new.

Paula Glynn

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/dirty-dishes-in-the-kitchen-sink/
