I was thinkin <br />Whose my mentor <br />I was just thinkin <br />Bout Hukkleberry wine <br />Remembering cook outs <br />Searching for snakes <br />I sought them out <br />My Ma and Dad loathed me <br />To see how they lived and died <br />I hid them in glass <br />Cages and appetizers fried <br />Growing up hungry <br />On either side of the equator <br />I would never hide <br />The sundry critters <br />That passed my palate <br />Just like the time <br />I stopped on the dime <br />To eat an arachnid salad <br />which helped me out <br />As I grew palled <br />I dreamed in a blink <br />Why call it bait <br />If my appetite it does sate.<br /><br />John Shea<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/with-a-blink/
