In the beginning man and woman
were not separated from each other.
Since the dense dawn of time
in their primal state of being,
embalmed with aromatic thyme,
they formed an innocent whole,
united in one body and soul.

From the days of inscrutable prehistory,
an impervious veil conceals the mystery.
But lo and behold the miracle,
close and tight,
in the fire and ecstasy of love
when body and soul reunite,
in the rapture of the euphoric embrace
the universe reveals its profound secret
in a penetrating, deep and ineffable knit.

And then yonder above
flapping its wings flies a celestial dove
as invisible bells of the cosmos
chime ethereal music to eternal love
and heavenly violins play kudos
in melodious hymns.
In remote galaxies elated stars whirl,
the planets sing in joy,
they dance on their orbit and twirl.

Paul Hartal

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-secret-of-the-universe-3/
