Each night I prepare for the ritual, <br />When through my window moonlight streams, <br />I say a prayer, then close my eyes <br />And await the man of my dreams <br /> <br />Smiling angels watch as he pulls me close, <br />And when his lips to mine are pressed, <br />It's then I praise the Lord of Dreams, <br />For now I know how I've been blessed <br /> <br />And since that first night, the sweet dream recurs <br />Each and every night without fail, <br />I fall asleep, then I'm with him, <br />And we start love's journey full sail <br /> <br />I dare not question such a mystery, <br />I'll not seek an explanation, <br />Soon, the hour of the midnight bell <br />Will fill with anticipation <br /> <br />And now, because of some strange quirk of fate <br />I need not fear, nor do I dread <br />Chimes of the lonely midnight hour <br />As I lay in my empty bed <br /> <br />How many eyes are wet with burning tears <br />While lifted to Heaven in prayer, <br />With smile and song they'd greet a dream <br />With a loving heart waiting there <br /> <br />But how many hearts are breaking tonight, <br />Longing for sleep to escape pain, <br />They hide their faces from the day, <br />But their efforts are all in vain <br /> <br />And so in my dreams my love comes to me, <br />I'm free of all sadness and tears, <br />Nighttime provides enduring love.. <br />That with the daylight disappears<br /><br />Lora Colon<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-man-of-my-dreams-5/
